SUNDAY TALKING...11-24-2024

Our Thanksgiving celebration will be held this year at my home.  Everyone has an assignment and will bring the food.  All but three of the grandchildren will be able to attend.  One will be working so his girlfriend won't come, one is now living with granddaughter-in-law in New York, and One is flying to Louisiana to be with her boyfriend.

I have worked to get the house ready.  My housekeeper cannot come next week because she is celebrating with her own family.  There is no doubt that a domestic person does not live in me.  My sister, who is also getting ready for her family, told me to forget it because everyone will be so busy eating the won't notice if my house is clean or not.  Good idea.  A call was immediately  put in to my friend Frank and a decision was made for both of us.  Let's forget work and take the day off.

We went to town.  Did a little shopping.  Had a wonderful meal at a new Mexican restaurant.  Then we spent 2 and 1/2 hours in the theater watching GLADIATOR 2.

Now there are still 5 days to think about our Thanksgiving celebration. What a joy it was to take a day off and give up stress.

WORDS FOR WEDNESDAY...01-11-2017

No time for a new one...here is an oldie from 2017

Words for this week, January 11, 2017 are:

News, countries, follow, stream, snuff, hair
and/or
mushroom, print, roll, dust, warm, family

EXTRA EXTRA by Granny Annie

He had been busy all day
Cutting down the trees
The old man in overalls
With holes in the knees.

He came up from the field
His pet goat would FOLLOW
Both stopping at the STREAM
A cool drink to swallow.

The old man's fat jaw
Overflowed with SNUFF.
The spit blew into his HAIR
The rest wiped on shirt cuff.

They had gathered MUSHROOMs
To be shared with NEWS monthlies.
The neighbors they visited
Were all from other COUNTRIES.

The old man had knowledge
And did not need a hint
To remember the messages
Without them being in PRINT.

The visits had been welcomed
As he spread gossip happily.
A ROLL in the DUST for the goat
Then they returned to WARM FAMILY.

SUNDAY TALKING...11-17-2024

This November has been great so far. It has brought me lots of family visitors.  We are all busy making the plans for Thanksgiving that will be held at my home this time.  Everyone has an assignment and mine is to provide a pie and deviled eggs. My precious daughter has taken charge.

November's full moon is called the Beaver Moon, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. The name was chosen because this is the time of year when beavers start sheltering in their lodges after having prepared food stores for the winter. This full moon reached its peak on Friday, Nov. 15.  It was absolutely gorgeous!

WORDS FOR WEDNESDAY...11-06-2024

Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer opened his parachute and landed in the surf. The rest of the crew unhooked their harnesses and smashed on top of Rudolph.  They landed unhurt but appearing like a totem pole.  Santa and his sleigh telescoped into the pearl opal green ocean. The fiery jets trailed behind and lit up the sky. Santa's ruins were black as clay and his head was severed. The children finally gave up watching out their windows. They never knew Rudolph and the surviving reindeer completed the delivery of presents that year.

SUNDAY TALKING...11-3-2024

Our weather has been crazy. We've had tornadoes and very high winds in our small community. One of my trees fell down on tuesday morning. My neighbors lost a great deal of their barn roof and then several of their outbuildings, but thankfully their home was not destroyed. Today my barn door blew off. Tonight it's high winds and thunder and lightning again. Thankfully, my poor chickens are safe in their pen. My girl Frankie wants to go outside and potty, but every time I open the door the rain scares her back in the house and she goes to the toy box and gets another toy. So before the evening's over, all her toys will be strung out all over the house. I hope she can wait till morning now to pee.
